The Easy Chair Episode 58: The True Telling of Grandfather Stone (featuring Stephanie Spaulding)
September 5, 2016
This week on The Easy Chair: “The True Telling of Grandfather Stone”. Ever-popular, mega-talented guest author Stephanie Spaulding has a story that is classic folklore meets traditional fairytale with a dash of clear-eyed truth and a sprinkling of humor. Generations and generations back, Grandfather Stone evolved from an actual stone, though aside from his longevity, pearls of wisdom, and ability to perform magic, he comes across as a typical doting grandpa. Like much of Stephanie’s work, this story is set in Vermont, Stephanie’s home state, and in Stephanie’s favorite literary province: the intersection of real and surreal. Stephanie and I get to banter a bit about the start of the school year, from a teacher’s POV. It’s an episode guaranteed to charm your socks off. Tune in!
Next week, it’s Shoulda Swiped Left #9. I am not quite sure how it’s going work, with a continent between them, but Hannah and Jake will figure out how to talk about Hannah’s current plight- work is hectic, she just bought a new house, how will she fit in the time to meet a potential Mr. Right? Will Jake have the answer? Your guess is as good as mine. And keep those dating stories coming! Send them to us at email@example.com so Hannah and I can share them.
