Episode 63: Other Mother (featuring Stephanie Spaulding)

This week on The Easy Chair: “Other Mother”, a poignant story by ever-popular returning author Stephanie Spaulding. Actually, poignant is an understatement. This story won’t just touch you, it will move you. Annie is Laurel’s stepmother, though Laurel can’t bear to call her that because it contains the word “mother” which feels to Laurel like a betrayal. Her parents’ divorce doesn’t alter the fact that Laurel already has a mother. But life goes on, and stepmother Annie is there for her, again, and again, and again. Now, it’s time for Laurel to be there for Annie. Other Mother is about the persistence and proliferation of unconditional love. Grab the Kleenex (you’re going to need them) and tune in for this beautiful story. Next week: a short story by author Cameron Gearen, who will be calling her short story in from Chicago. I’ve read it, and it’s awesome. Also, keep those crazy dating stories coming to me and Hannah at easychairpodcast@gmail.com so we can share them.
